Sue Pelland
Quilting has been at the heart of my life from a young age. At just 16, I began teaching classes in a quilt shop co-owned with my mother. Later, I pursued textile chemistry in college, which led to a dream career as a color chemist at Cranston Print Works Co. There, I worked daily with fabric and color, deepening my understanding of textiles while fueling my creative spark.
After leaving my career to raise my three children, I continued quilting and teaching, keeping my creative passions alive. During this time, I introduced the concept of Rotary Cut Appliqué, authored two books on the subject, and developed patented tools that make appliqué accessible to everyone—from beginners to seasoned quilters.
For the past 15 years, I’ve shared my expertise at prestigious events like Mancuso and AQS Quilt Shows, inspiring quilters to strive for quality craftsmanship while embracing “progress over perfection.”
I understand the demands of a busy life and often dedicate just 24 minutes a day to sewing, proving that creativity can thrive even in small bursts.
